Belgium is so fun but i can only blog now. We stayed with this host family with 5 kids and the kids are so adorable! Enea is a 2 and 1/2 year old girl who laughs ever so often. I am so happy to be able to see her. No, not exaggerating but her school had a killer on the loose who killed 4 babies and a nurse. That day, Enea was kept at home cause she was sick. Lucky girl.
I stayed at Dendermonde with them and their house is huge! We arrived at Brussels and began to eat all sorts of chocolate stuff. Chocolate waffles, chocolates, la la la. We ended up taking many pictures and eating a good menu complet!
The hosts were so nice in offering us beer (belgium is famous for it) and about their culture, their love lives and a lil of their sex life! LOL.
Carnivals are so rare in singapore that i dun remember going for any i guess.. so technically the Aalst festival was the first carnival i have been to. The hosts offered us costumes and with a jailbird, a witch, a clown and me (some dancer with some bells on her waist), we set off to meet some other couch surfers for the festival. IT WAS AWESOME! More of the experiences of talking to people and meeting people than the carnival itself. The carnival was interesting but after 2 hours of that, everything starts to look the same.
The locals are so nice and Tommy kept offering us beer every 5 mins since he ran around with 10 cans of beer in his bag at any time and we had the luxury of watching the carnival right at his door step and stepping into his apt to get food when we wanted to. Great!
All in all, belgium was a relaxing nice city which is a change from the paris which was filled with busy people who cannot really be bothered with wad is happening in everyone's lives.
I have learnt to listen more and share more, be more patient in explaining our culture and learn from the locals as well. It is sad that i may not get to see these pple ever again but oh wells, it kinda emphasises on the uniqueness of each encounter in our lives. Our lives seemed to be an ongoing story whereby routines are to be thrown out of the window and we have to try and experience everything. There is no point in reliving memories and doing the same things, meeting the same people. Life is more interesting that way i guess. Yes? yupz, i gain more from this sep than i thot i will i guess.
P.s. I have heard that this blog is less private than i thot it is. I didnt know others are reading these lest for those i am close to.. Hahaz and the comments about the style of the blog amuses me as well. Am i being whiney in most blogs? I mean, I cant possibly whine to everyone in real life at least in virtual, i can right? so yar, i am whiney! LOL.
