What do people talk about when all topics of pleasantries are exhausted? We seemed to be able to talk at ease with new friends and rarely keep them engaged in topics that are more than conversations of "How are you?", "How's school?" and "Oh, are you attached?".. The last one seems particularly frequent nowadays and it kinds of tires me to answer.
As i cross the 21 mark, my relatives, friends and even my mum start to pop the question and wonder at the missing "bf". I got so tired of answering them on my 21st, that i said something like "Oh, i didnt invite them cause there are too many of them". Something along the line that got me a whack on my head by my mum and 4 stunned aunties and uncles who were playing mahjong. I laugh silently inside to see their expressions. And, just recently, I heard our own Prime Minister saying that kids nowadays are not procreating more pesky little kids fast enough.. And i rolled my eyes and it had stayed there since. Is it that great an issue to be attached?
Personally, i avoid being emotionally entangled. I can almost hear the stupid boys in my clique whispering "No one wants you, how to be entangled?". Maybe.. But i think it's blessed to have less of such issues. I have friends who, on purpose, leads a few guys on and come complaining to me that they have a big problem. It's apparent that they enjoy it and while lamenting to me, they are still revelling in it. I dunno how to play this game.
I do not actively look out for potentials.. In fact, i try to put all my guy frens into the buddy category. I rather get treated like a boy than maybe possibly have to handle the issues later. A defense mechanism to prevent emotionally entangled, be it me him or him me. I am weird eh? I have my girl frens now and i am quite contented.. The right one is somewhere out there (i think) and i am not the kind that will want to have 10000 bfs before meeting the right one, nah.
Till then..
