Dare to run with our eyes fixed on Jesus.
The pastor was telling us that we are designed such that we usually land where our eyes are fixed on. He is a wakeboarder. So naturally, he used wakeboarding as an analogy.
In wakeboarding, the feet are attached to the board and by riding on the wake after the boat, the board will slice through the wave from the side and back into the middle of the wave. Riding on the wave, gives a push and you will be air borne momentarily.
The landing part requires our eyes to look at the exact spot we want to land and magically, we'll be there when we land. Spiritually, we are built in the same way. If we fix our eyes on Him, there is no way we can not be like Him. We are built in that way.
The topic was "Keeping your faith in the Marketplace". In the society, we are often judged (or think that we are judged, which is much worse in my opinion) by friends and others alike. To keep a peaceful heart in the midst of all these is the key to not just surviving in this marketplace, but thrive and stand out.
The uneasiness of interacting with people and wondering if you lived up to their expectations is uneasy and unnerving in itself. I have experienced it myself and usually among people who hide their emotions and claim to be alright otherwise. Perhaps, to not worry about what the others may think, may say is impt while fixing our eyes on the race set before us.
I had a conversation with a fellow Sci fren regarding evolutionist and creationist theory. Which is more substantial? My stand is pretty clear and his is as well, if not there will not be a conversation worth mentioning in the first place.
Evolution, i believe, happens in the micro scale. Ape--> human? Nah, i dun believe. I am a creationist then. I dun deny the presence of the dinosaurs, the primitive animals that are already extinct. Why not?
My fren thinks that evolution is the way to go. So i asked him "How are we like apes in terms of intelligence? Can evolution give us something like that?".. No conclusive answer.
Actually, on both theories, we believe out of faith. Me out of my faith. Him, out of his belief that something that sounds like science and probably with future evidences is better. But, now.. both are based on faith isnt it?
I have drifted from the topic but, you get my idea.. Peaceful heart in a marketplace full of noisy fishmongers.. Tu comprends ma chere? C'est pour toi aussi=)
