yoz! 2nd day in Paris and i'm super tired! I arrived at about 7 pm yesterday night parisian time and got a dosage of outskirts paris and guess wad, it looks like malaysia..... yea yea, wad a disappointment. I was telling my frens that we were disillusioned by all the images we've seen in tv...... But! It was a different story today..... we visited the Arc de Triomphe first and den walked, or rather we ran headlong across a cross section of vehicles screaming, to Champs-Elysees to look around the souvenir shops and the up-market shops like LV. We went to the Louvre Musee later and were stuck in the souvenir shops again.... this time for an hour lol! In the end, we bought some post cards and a poster of Mona Lisa.... and on to the Louvre! We went to the Denon and Scully section, and was really amazed by the peintures, ils sont tres tres bons. We saw the Mona Lisa which in essence is a small painting of 40cm by 50cm was hung on the entire stretch of wall in the middle of salle six. The sculptures were magnificent as well, portraying the culture and arts of the era. Inevitably, traces of the Da Vinci Code will be evident in the Louvre..... especially the inverted glass pyramid . The exterior of the Louvre is as eye-catching as the interior..... the exterior exhibits the stylish glass features and fountains while the interior shows many paintings and sculptures that were made well before our time but magnificently preserved. It was quite an eye-opener and we went to the Sacre-Coeur cathedral, after taking a bus, 2 trains and walking around all the rues and boulevards. Oh and one interesting fact, there are loads of pigeons in Paris and they are as calm as ----- wadever.... they can just sit in the middle of a busy street like a hen laying eggs and stone. Isnt that cute? O wells, yea the Sacre-Coeur Cathedral is breath-taking..... and I'm referring to both the bird's eye view of Paris from the hill that it is situated at as well as the instant i step into the full view of the interior of the cathedral. The centre of the cathedral was mainly gold-plated with the concave wall decorated with a painting of La Vierge Marie, The Virgin Mary. The entire painting which spans the entire concave wall facing the entrance of the cathedral is gold-plated. The high ceilings of the cathedral are decorated with Barcelon-ish openings and carvings. Colourful tainted glass decorates the sides of the cathedral..... and i sat down for a service in progress though i understood none of the sermons which are in french and the hymns sung...... the choir is gd tt bit i know at least", Lastly we spent 3 hrs in Eiffel Tower..... queueing up buying tics waiting for the lifts and getting frozen by the wind up at the very top of Eiffel Tower. The view is spectacular though, well worth the wait for the tics and the lifts as well as being extremely and superbly scared of the ever rising lifts.
